Scalise Applauds Census Bureau for Cutting Ties with ACORN, Calls on all Federal Agencies to Follow Suit

Friday, September 11, 2009

Washington, DC -- Congressman Scalise issued the following statement applauding the decision today by U.S. Census Bureau Director Robert Groves to end its partnership with ACORN in conducting the 2010 Census.

“Many of us have been trying to get ACORN removed from all involvement in the 2010 Census, and I applaud Census Director Groves for heeding our calls to sever their partnership with ACORN. Considering the serious criminal charges against ACORN employees across the country, including numerous convictions, I am calling on every federal agency to immediately cancel all taxpayer funds from going to ACORN,” Scalise said.

A copy of the letter that Census Director Groves sent to ACORN is available here.
